Very Rev. Fr. Krikor H. Dz. Maksoudian was born on January 16, 1941, in Beirut, Lebanon. He became a U.S. citizen in 1960. He was ordained a proto-deacon in December 1965 by Archbishop Sion Manoogian and a priest in June 1986 by Archbishop Torkom Manoogian. Fr. Krikor received the title of Veghar in November 1990 from Archbishop Torkom Manoogian in Jerusalem and joined the Brotherhood of St. James. He was raised to the rank of Vardapet in 1991 by Archbishop Khajag Barsamian. Fr. Krikor received a doctorate degree in Armenian Studies and Byzantine history from Columbia University in 1973. He had previously received a master's degree in classics from Boston College in 1964 and a bachelor's degree in classics from Harvard in 1963. In 1962, he was a student at the Mekhitarist Monastery in Vienna. Since 1990, he has served as the director of the Diocese's Krikor and Clara Zohrab Information Center. From 1982 to 1989, he was a consultant with the Armenian Architectual Photographic Archives Projects. He has taught at many institutions, including Columbia, St. Nersess Armenian Seminary, and Harvard College Summer School. Fr. Krikor has published many books and articles, including "The Passion of St. Shushanik," "Clergy and Laity in Medieval Armenia," "Chosen of God," and "A Critical Examination of Armenian Catholic Communities in Transcaucasia." |
