Sacraments
|
In the tradition of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Church, there are seven rituals, or sacraments, which we perceive as outward signs instituted by Christ to give Grace and blessings to us. These seven sacraments allow us to re-live what has happened in the past, demonstrate in the present that Jesus Christ lives, and prefigure our glorious future with Christ at the end of time. Among the more common sacraments and sacramental services are:
[see details below] If you would like to make arrangements for one of these Services please contact the Church office (978-256-7234) to ensure the availability of the Pastor and Church Sanctuary. All Services will follow the Canons of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Church. In accordance with Diocesan discipline mandated by the Primate, all Sacraments shall be administered in the church sanctuary which has been consecrated for the celebration of these sacred rites. All arrangements for the guest clergy to participate in sacraments, according to protocol, shall be initiated and made through the Pastor’s office after consultation with the Pastor. |

Please try to schedule and plan for the Sacrament of Holy Baptism at least two months in advance by contacting the Church Office. The Office will provide additional details and any necessary administrative forms at that time. According to the Armenian Church Canons, a Baptism may only be performed once in a person’s lifetime, provided such Baptism has been performed in a Christian Church and in the name of the Holy Trinity. At least one of the godparents must be a member of the Armenian Orthodox Church.

Weddings |
Begin making arrangements for the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony by first contacting the Church Office at least six months prior to the date of a wedding. The engaged couple shall contact the Church Office to confirm availability of the Pastor and the Church Sanctuary prior to making or confirming any other wedding arrangements. All weddings are to follow the Canons of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Church and the laws of the State of the Massachusetts. The couple must meet with the Pastor at least twice before the wedding date for pre-marital counseling and preparation. The Church Office will make all necessary arrangements for the deacon, organist and soloist, and will provide the couple with additional details and forms. Weddings may not take place on Sunday mornings, during Great Lent or Holy Week, or on the following five major feast days: Holy Nativity, Holy Easter, Holy Transfiguration, Holy Assumption of the Virgin Mary the Mother of God, and The Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.
